Victim Impact Statements:
Along with my two children ages 2 & 5, we were victims of Domestic Violence by the hand of my ex-husband. My 2 year old and I were in intensive care for over a month. My strength came from and continues to come from looking in the face of my beautiful children every day! Northwest Victim Services helped me file a claim for my daughter and myself. They were so helpful! The Executive Director took my information, assisted me with getting copies of my medical bills for us. She made me feel better emotionally because I thought my life would be negatively impacted forever. Now, I am able to return back to work with a smile on my face! - Domestic Violence Survivor
Being a Victim of Bullying has changed my life! It has caused me to become stronger and wiser. I volunteer my time at Northwest Victim Services to educate youth who are dealing with the same issues I encountered. I realize some children suffer in silence just like I did. So, I never miss an opportunity to speak with and encourage youth to make a positive change in their lives. “Never struggle alone ALWAYS seek help from those that support you. That could be your parents, guardian’s, teachers, or an adult you trust”. That is my message to all youth I encounter. Northwest Victim Services “Stand for Something” Youth program has helped me heal from being a victim of bullying. –Bullying Victim Survivor
Beginning at the age of 7, I was a Victim of sexual abuse by 2 males within my adopted family, people who was supposed to love and care for me! This abuse took place for over 6 years. They robbed me of my innocent, self-esteem, my value, and they broke my trust level with adults. I told my story to my guardian however; it was not believed! My world was dark and hopeless. My life turned around when I was in 7th grade when I met a Student Advisor, she treated me like a daughter. Now, I know it was not my fault, I value my life, and my self-worth. I have a new family that cares for me and protects me. I was referred to Northwest Victim Services to file a claim for therapy. After speaking with a Victim Advocate I felt comfortable and they connected me with a wonderful licensed therapist. Now, I can begin to heal. “My DEEP connection with God is the key to combat my anger. – Adolescent Sexual Abuse Survivor
On March 9, 2016, I attended a Senior Presentation at the DePaul House. The Executive Director spoke about the services Northwest Victim Services offers and she indicated a Victim has 2 years to file a claim. I indicated I was a victim of crime. Someone called my house indicating I had to pay $1,500.00 to keep my timeshare. I gave them my bank information over the phone and to my surprise it was a scam. I thought I would never see that money again. The Executive Director came to my house and filed a claim on my behalf. She did three more home visits to get copies of my bank statements. To my surprise I received the total amount of money stolen from me. I was so grateful to Northwest Victim Services. I am truly grateful for what they have done for me. – Senior Victim of Theft
